It is fascinating to see how much technology is affecting the film industry in general. To be clear – every single detail about the latest film releases, from the moment the light enters the lens on set to the moment it is projected onto the big screen, is influenced by the usage and advancement. It is estimated that the U.S. film industry posted $31 billion in revenues in , with the movie going public spending nearly $11 billion annually at the box office, according to SelectUSA. Additionally, people rent and purchase their favorite films on DVD, Blu-ray, and on-demand/streaming services, and subscribe to cable channels devoted to.

The purpose of this paper is to accurately and critically analyze the major changes of technology throughout the film industry’s history. As two college students majoring in computer and technological fields, we feel that it is imperative to understand how cameras and technology and evolved and their effects on the film industry.   The film industry was slow to move away from a reliance on physical formats, due in part to the huge income DVD had generated in the previous decade and the industry’s aversion to anything new or seemingly risky.
